• IMPORTANT: If there are extremists at the meeting, DO NOT CONFRONT THEM. Don’t get combative. Let them be the ones who interrupt and make fools of themselves. They will get thrown out of the meeting for misbehavior.
  • NOTE: You will only have 2 minutes to talk on an agenda item, and 3 minutes during the public hearing, so be sure to practice your script often and edit if you need to for conciseness
  • Mention who your School Board representative is (find them here) and if you have children in public schools
  • Don’t always be negative or defensive. Try to speak on things school board members have done that are positive.

Directions to the Meeting

The School Board meeting will take place in the School Board Administration building downtown at the following address:

Parking: There is street parking and an adjacent parking lot on 2nd Avenue Between NE 13th and NE 14th Street. 

Public Transportation: You can also take the People Mover to the School Board Building. From the Government Center Metrorail Station, be sure to get on the Omni Loop and that will take you right to the MDCPS building at the end of the line.

Arrival Time: Please be sure you arrive by 1 pm if you will speak on an agenda item, or 4 pm for the Public Hearing, to secure your spot. 


Speaker Registration Form

PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK TO AN AGENDA ITEM listed for this meeting and/or the REGULAR PUBLIC HEARING should submit the Speaker Registration Form (see sample below)  to the School Board building. You can drop it off in person at 1450 N.E. Second Avenue, Room 102, Miami, Florida 33132 or submit via email, [email protected], NO LATER THAN 4:30 P.M., the MONDAY PRIOR TO THE MEETING. You CAN fill the form out while you are there, but there are no guarantees you will be allowed to speak.
