What is Moms for Libros?
Moms for Libros is a Miami-based advocacy organization fighting against the politically motivated censorship of books and attacks on public education. We inform parents about what's happening in their children's schools, mobilize communities to take action, and make sure Florida families have the tools to advocate for their kids.

Who started Moms for Libros?
Moms for Libros was co-founded by Lissette Fernandez and Vanessa Brito in 2023 after they learned the Miami-Dade County School Board was holding a meeting on how to handle book challenges. Rather than sit on the sidelines, they mobilized activists, teachers, and parents across Miami to show up and speak out.

What does Moms for Libros actually do?
We do three things:
- Inform — We track legislation, school board decisions, and book challenges and break them down in plain language through our Latest Chisme newsletter and blog.
- Mobilize — We organize letter-writing campaigns, show up to school board meetings, and help parents make their voices heard in Tallahassee.
- Build community — We connect Miami parents who care about public education and give them the tools and information to advocate for their kids.
