This month, the Miami-Dade school board is hearing Item H-10, recognizing October as LGBTQ+ History Month! Please join us in encouraging the board to recognize the historic accomplishments and contributions of LGBTQ+ people across the district!

Please, also make sure to write a letter to the school board. You can use Prism's easy-to-use letter writing campaign tool, but PLEASE be sure to personalize it. The school board members put more weight on personalized letters. You can also call or write your school board members and let them know that you support item H-10. You can find their contact information on the Dade Schools website

Note: Signing up on our site will not put on you the speaker list. Please complete a speaker form for item H-10 and email it to [email protected] no later then the Monday September 10th at  4:30 pm

Agenda Item: If you wish to speak about an agenda item, please be present by 1:30 pm. The order of thins is very fluid when it comes to the agenda items, so I suggest being there as soon as you can to be sure you're not skipped.

Public Hearing: shall begin no later than approximately 6:30 p.m.  The Chair may begin calling speakers who are present immediately following the conclusion of the regular agenda.  The public hearing shall not conclude before 4:30 p.m., unless all of the speakers signed up to speak are present and have been given the opportunity to speak. In other words, so long as you are there before 4:30pm, you will be given your chance to speak during the public hearing. You will be given 3 minutes to speak.

Timeline of events: School board meeting starts at 11:00 am with ceremonial proclamations. They then break for 1-hour. During this break, you will be asked to leave the school board building to wait for the meeting to resume. Once they resume, they will go in alphabetic order as to the agenda items.

*Disclaimer: We will share your contact information with Prism when you sign up. They will need to have an accurate count of who is attending.

Will you come?
