Florida's Special Session could strip billions from our public schools, libraries, and communities.

Governor DeSantis has called a special session to advance SJR 2-F — a proposal that creates a $250,000 homestead exemption and sets Florida on a path toward complete elimination of property taxes on homesteads.

According to the Florida Policy Institute, this proposal could cost school districts $5 billion annually — rising to $8.59 billion if taxes are fully eliminated. Counties face an additional $4.8–$8.65 billion in losses.

Funding cuts would impact: public schools, libraries, parks, public safety, elections administration, community services, and more.
